REIKI is a Buddhist offshoot of Qigong with added Shintoist influence. Dr Mikao Usui, a Japanese Professor of Theology and a priest, rediscovered this natural healing method towards the end of the 19th century and it was he who named it REIKI.

Reiki is most commonly known as the "Universal Life Force Energy".
In Japanese REIKI means:

REI - Holy spirit, mystery, gift, nature spirit or invisible spirit
KI - Energy, talent, feeling

This simple technique of hands-on healing can have a profound effect on health and well-being by rebalancing, cleansing and renewing your internal energy system. Also, whatever your spiritual or personal path may be, Reiki can enrich it and bring you closer to your full potential as a human being.

These classes are an inner adventure into your own mysterious and incredible ability to heal yourself. You will have the opportunity to learn how to expand your awareness of your own inherent healing powers, while discovering how REIKI, the USUI System of Natural Healing, can enhance and strengthen these abilities.

Participants' comments:

To integrate the Reiki energy, students are asked to practice REIKI on themselves for the next 21 days. These are only some of the more dramatic experiences. We can never know whether or not REIKI will heal since we only channel this energy and we are not in control of it; however there are many incredible experiences:

One week after Reiki 1:

"I was on my way to my psychiatrist when I suddenly realised I had not taken my anti-depressants this morning. Thinking back I realised I had forgotten to take them since my REIKI weekend - this was incredible since I had been taking them every day for several years."

One week after Reiki 1:

"I burned my hand taking out the grill pan. I even smelled my flesh burning. I remembered I knew how to do REIKI healing and quickly covered the burned area with my other hand. I waited ten minutes with the pain gradually subsiding. When I took my hand off there was nothing, not even a redness. I was amazed. I thought I was dreaming."

Two weeks after Reiki 1:

"I noticed a new approach to problems in my life. I used to have nightmares and be stressed, now I seem to stay in a state of calm, easily finding solutions. Problems no longer seem to be problems only experiences in my life."
